It is important for us to be aware and stay current on the events that are going on around us locally, nationally, and internationally. You will be debating the following topic areas which affect each of us in some form: death penalty in the U.S., U.S. abortion laws, education policy, healthcare policy, environmental policy, U.S. gun laws, and artificial intelligence.

1. Choose a debate topic area listed in above paragraph (You will choose a topic
during class session). You will present your debate topic in front of the class.
2. Choose if your argument will be the affirmative (in favor of policies that support)
or negative (against policies that support).
3. Type a 1 page Summary of your debate topic that will be turned in and graded.

a. Claim present your argument in a clear statement. This claim is reasons why youre in favor of/against the topic. (Please try to give as many reasons as possible)
b. Evidence the evidence supporting your claim, such as statistics, references, quotes, analogies, personal experiences, etc. (explains why you support your claim)
c. Impact explain the significance of the evidence and how it supports your claim or how it impacts society.
d. References Cite your source(s) and include the following: Title of article, author, and date retrieved or published. Debates are subjective by nature, so only cite if you pulled from outside sources.
