One-page Handout/Flyer.

You will create a one-page handout that can be in the form of a newsletter, brochure or informational sheet to communicate with families about child development in one of the following age groups: infants, toddlers, preschool or school-age.

In the handout:

Choose one age group to focus on: infants, toddlers, preschoolers or school-age.
Inform families of the developmental milestones typical to your chosen age group in each of the PILES (physical, intellectual, language, emotional and social) domains.
Explain challenging behaviors that may occur and how these behaviors may affect families.
Give several specific suggestions families can use to guide children with these behaviors.
Include the name and web address of one (1) credible Internet resource families can go to for more information about typical child development of children in the specific age group selected. In one sentence, explain families should explore this resource. Examples of organizations with credible information on child development are Zero to Three, the Center for Disease Control and Prevention, WebMD, and Pathways.org Include professional, eye-catching graphics, photos or color to bring attention to your handout.
Remember you are providing professional communication for families on an important parenting topic. Your language and tone should be positive and encouraging, reflecting your role in supporting families. Use correct spelling, grammar and punctuation.
