responses to the following 2 discussion on(Describe the complexity factors involved to describe of a product), 100 or more words.  Responses should be a minimum of 100 words and include direct questions.

1.Complexity factors are unique attributes that make a product what it is. For an example, lets talk about make up. First, there needs to be a definition of what kind of make up it is. Is it foundation, blush, highlighter, bronzer, etc? Once it falls into a main category, then there are things to consider like the shade. Foundation comes in colors, numbers, ranges, and more. It can be complicated to determine which shade you are, especially since each brand does things a little differently. Also, there are different kinds of foundations. Powder, liquid, and cream are just a few. Also, there are other things that need to be considered like the ingredients that are used. Some people can be very adamant that they will only use all natural products or products without gluten. This all needs to be included when defining the product.
It is important for these products and companies to work with the right agencies to define what they are and what the requirements are. They need to be flexible and effective. “This issue is of critical importance as both capabilities require significant investments of resources and effort. Without appropriate understanding of the competences needed to develop the two capabilities managers may not be able to reap the performance benefits of supply chain agility and supply chain adaptability” (Eckstein, Goellner, Blome & Henke, 2015). The truth is, there is no simple answer to this question. This is why it is called a “complexity factor.” Each type of product is going to have different needs, requirements and labels.

2. The product I am choosing to describe complexity factors is Tomato ketchup. The tomato ketchup is commonly consumed and is very popular on the food stuff around the world. The original  ketchup recipe has been around since the 1700’s but the main tomato ketchup did not appear until 1817. The texture, taste, smell and color are unique and consumers choses from different recipes, to different foods on what to use tomato ketchup on. Tomato Ketchup has evolve with time and has been use in different ways with different products as “Manufacturing technology of tomato products, in particular vegetable juices and concentrates, includes mechanical disruption of parenchymatous plant tissues. This results in dispersions which are a combination of the liquid phase, or serum containing pectic polysaccharides and other soluble substances and the dispersed phase (pulp) containing insoluble plant components, such as cell walls” (Tauferova, 2013). Now days tomato ketchup is found in almost every house, restaurant and food locations to use in preference of the consumer in which it continues to be a big amount. Heinz Company revolutionize the product by creating different types of bottles and with time making packets easier to open and carry for the consumer. “On the strength of its just-right recipe, as well as its manufacturing reach and global aspirations, Heinz quickly became the leading American ketchup producer, selling 5 million bottles per year by the early 1900s” (Bentley, 2018). Today we continue to see the growth of artisanal ketchups with the additional of organic ingredients and less artificial flavors.
