Whats In A Game?

Weve all played some type of board game as children, whether it be at home with family or as a reward at school. But, have you ever stopped to think about the cognitive, physical, and social/emotional development required for children to play various games? Well you are now.

For this assignment, you are required to review THREE different board games. These can be games you own, games youve played, or even games you see at the store (so long as you know how to play the game). Try and choose games that are appropriate for three different ages spanning from toddlers to end of early childhood (if you need to do two games in the same age group, that is fine). You will need to include the following information for each game.

Title of the game.
Age Range and Number of Players
Basic directions- give enough information so that I understand how to play it, but you dont have to rewrite the instruction manual (and DO NOT copy the instructions word for wordthat is plagiarism!).
Cognitive development required for playing the game. For example, the child must know how to count; the child must know colors; the child must know how to add/subtract money, etc.
Physical development required for playing the game. Does the child need fine motor skills to use tweezers? Do they need gross motor skills to move body parts? Etc.
What kind of Social/Emotional development is required for playing the game? Do they need to learn to wait their turn? Is there the possibility of losing a turn? Etc.
Based on your evaluation of the Cognitive, Physical, Social and Emotional Development of the game, would you say it is appropriate for the suggested age range? Why or why not. Be sure to include scientific studies/references to support your response.
