Read the article titled Ethical Risk Assessment by Anne Federwisch (Markkula Center for Applied Ethics) and respond in a minimum of 100 words to the below classmate discussion post.

Conducting business ethically in the civilian world, and more important in law enforcement is crucial for business. In the civilian world, corruption exists, and may only affect a small few. The unethical behavior may not affect the businesses immediately or their ongoing success. However, in the long-term ethical companies can thrive for many years. In law enforcement unethical behavior gets uncovered more quickly because more people are watching, and the stakes are higher. Law enforcement is held to a higher standard, the public has high expectations for the profession. Risk assessment is a key component in the administrative world of law enforcement. Field officers try and minimize risks involving their safety, and administrators try and minimize risks of employee injuries, lawsuits, and corruption. Another area of the article discussed learning the pathways that led to the scandals. Supervisors need to pay attention to small innocuous unethical behaviors and take immediate corrective action. Supervisors, who are transparent, legitimate, and leaders are the key to any thriving organization. One quote in the article says, the fact that a particular division is let to remain as an ethical outlier has a contamination effect on the whole organization. This statement could not be truer in law enforcement. We have seen this throughout the years (CRASH Unit). The units behavior tainted the profession.
