Three possible prompts:

– Take up an independent topic or theme or concept that you have explored prior to this course, and put it, again, into conversation with course readings and anthropological theory as they unfold over the term;

Pair two or more course readings and put them into conversation with each other or with a timely current event;

Review a book or article from outside the course by putting it into conversation with a reading from inside the course;

Papers should be approximately three double-spaced pages in length. However brief, they should represent your best formal writing, with complete references. Your interest and ability to develop your writing over the course of the term informs the grade for each short installment, as well as your participation grade for the term. Include a detailed discussion of what you consider to be key moments from course authors that illuminate or critically engage your topic.
