Gakayla post:
o    Deterrence-consists of the public being aware of what will happen if they commit crimes, by seeing those who committed crimes being punished in public. The punishment would be severe and so harsh which will ensure that the person who committed the crime, not commit the crime again or anyone else who is thinking of committing a crime, would see the punishment. The overall method is to be harsh on criminals so that who are watching would be to scared to commit such act.
o    Incapacitation- this method was use to banished the criminal from the community due to their criminal activity. Incapacitation is based on the characteristics  of the criminal rather then the characteristics of the offense.  Incapaciation has a concepts selective incapacitation where the offenders  who repeat the same offense will be sentenced to longer person terms.
o    Rehabilitation-the goal is to rehabilitate the offender and make sure that the offender is rehabilitated to be a sportive and productive member of society. In the process of rehabilitation the goal is to be treated and return back to society as reformed.
o    Retribution-deals with the punishment the offender deserves after committing a crime. The mind set is ” eye for eye”. Retribution focused on offense and not the criminal futures. The criminal would be punished because the justice system requires it.
