As you write your initial post for this week, keep the following goals in mind:

-Discuss how this weeks selections use perspective/point of view (first, second, third-person) to make meaning in the text

-Discuss the spectrum of perspectives/points of view

Discussion Prompt:

As you read the texts, pay attention to perspective/point of view and take note of different speakers/perspectives.

Look for patterns:

Who is speaking in these texts? Does one person speak, or do multiple people speak?
What do these three texts have in common? What is different about these three texts? (speaker, time period, setting, etc.)
What kinds of situations do we have access to because of the perspective in the texts? What situations or people do we not have access to?

For the discussion, pick one moment from a text where you see perspective making a notable impact on what the reader has access to. Describe what is happening, who is speaking, and what the effect is on the reader. (relatability with the speaker, frustration, trust, mistrust, judgement, curiosity, etc.. Be specific. Explain the why a reader may have this reaction.)
**aim for at least one solid paragraph, but feel free to write more. (150-200 word minimum) You dont need to answer every question in equal depth (for example, in the look for patterns section) though you are expected to address each of the bulleted items in your post. Keep in mind part of the goal is to help generate discussion with your peers, so feel free to raise questions in your posts as well.
