Triple Entry Journal on “The pedagogical balancing act: Teaching reflection in higher education”
1. Summary: Use 5-6 sentences that will sum up the article
2. Reflect and Respond: Write 2-3 salient points from the article that strike you as significant. While these may be citations, they should not be a summary. Respond to each of the points you have chosen. E.g. What is its significance to the author’s argument? Why did you select it? How meaningful is it to you? Comment on its relation to your experience/other readings etc.
3. A Persisting Question: Give a persisting questions and one reason why this question continues to be significant.

By the end of this module you will have
used the journal activity on Moodle to create a triple entry journal to identify significant points and a persisting question from the article “The pedagogical balancing act: teaching reflection in higher education” (Ryan, 2013) and explained how the points and question are significant.

A framework for reflective practice
In the article The pedagogical balancing act: teaching reflection in higher education, Mary Ryan (2013) argues that every level of reflection must be taught and students that do not move through each level will have gaps in their reflections.
