You will be watching and reflecting on 3 short videos (each video is under 2-3 minutes) that relate to the topics covered in Chapter 3 and 4. Please view the videos and submit your responses to the questions associated with each video.

Sign into the online supplement to your textbook called Mindtap, go to Chapter 3 and click on How do I practice what I’ve learned, to view the Closed Captioned Video Activity entitled Empathic Response Exercise 1 . You may also wish to download the transcript to the Empathic Response Exercise 1.
There are two video clips of Jonathan’s statement and one video clip of Callie’s statement. Each statement is followed by 3 responses from 3 different people.

What do you hear her saying?
How would you respond to her verbal and nonverbal statements and behaviors?
Reflect on your observations of attending behavior, deliberate attending and non-attending, and then evaluate attending behavior.
