develop your own topic. Something about this reading seems amiss in this regard; certainly there’s humor in the essay, but there might also be a satirical note throughout. Keep this in mind while reading. The most important thing to remember regarding a topic idea is that you should try to focus on Wallace and his essay – not just on the general topic he brings up. Do not give your opinion on the morality of eating lobsters. Rather, examine the ideas Wallace writes about, and/or the way he writes about them, It’s useful to compose a question or series of questions you want to explore in an essay – the answer to your main question will serve as your thesis.
