The final paper will present a view (myth, stereotype, or political agenda, for example) that you yourself strongly hold and wish to hold and, in the course of your research, find evidence against it. You will first advocate in favor of that view, citing at least one source in support of the view, and, citing at least one other source, provide persuasive evidence against the view. Possible topics may include (but need not be limited to) gender, gender symbolism, gender mythology, number of genders, gender differences, gender versus sex, tolerance/intolerance versus stigma, prohibition versus taboo, taboo and sexual repression, gender double standards, gender inequalities, the social function of gender, gender as a means of expressing identity versus gender as a constraint limiting identity, gender as an interpretation of the body.
