(1) Based on the readings, do you think marriage is the same today as it was 50, 30, even 20 years ago? What has changed and what has stayed the same? Focus your response on what you learned in the readings and limit your opinions in this response.
(2) Under the Supreme Court’s interpretation to the United States Constitution, the right to marry falls under the right to privacy, as does the right to procreate, keep custody of children, keep the family together, make decisions on how to raise children, and many others. This implies that the government does not have a say in these acts of the family, as they are considered private. Do marriage promotion policies violate this right, or are they merely promotion policies?
