I feel Americans should take a multivitamin because though we should be getting all the necessary vitamins and minerals we need from foods, not all Americans have a healthy diet. Getting the proper amount of vitamins and minerals depends on our diet. A diet that includes plenty of fruits, vegetables, whole grains, good protein sources, and healthful fats should provide most of the nutrients needed for good health. For me, I know I don’t eat many vegetables therefore I take a multivitamin every morning just so that I can get any nutrients I may be lacking in my diet. Those that have food allergies, a medical condition, or following a certain diet may need to take a multivitamin to fill what they can’t get from foods. Sometimes people have busy schedules and can’t eat a balanced diet every day or pregnant women who have appetites’ that fluctuate can take multivitamins to be sure they’re getting the vitamins they need. Multivitamins can’t replace the vitamins, nutrients or minerals we get form having a healthy balanced diet, but they fill a gap when nutritional requirements aren’t met.
