Students will select two works of literature, from the selections read in class, from a literary period, and research those works and their authors. Students will produce a research-based essay in which they analyze the key concepts, values, and writing styles in the chosen works as a representation of their literary period. The goal of the assignment is to demonstrate understanding of the ways literary periods shape literature and act as vehicles for expressing artistic, political, social, or religious values.
