The Final Paper is worth 16% of your final grade.
Your final paper is a capstone project designed to summarize and synthesize your learning this semester. You will write a love letter to one of our three cities. Write to the city. Examples of this kind of writing include:
* Dear New Orleans, one of the things I really love about you is your resilience.
* Dear New York, you and I go way back. I have a lot of hope for you.
* Dear Detroit, I know you’ve been through some tough times. I also know you’ve overcome a lot. For the Final Paper:
* Single-space your 3-4 page paper. Do not use a cover page.
* Use 12 point standard academic font (Times New Roman, Calibri, Cambria, etc.) and 1.25 margins.
* Be sure to show your full engagement with all assigned materials.
* Refer to the rubric (under ASSIGNMENTS) for criteria used in grading.
* Use the headers below in your paper.
* Do not include the directions or questions below.
* Citations should be in the form of hyperlinks. Refer to ASSIGNMENTS on Blackboard for more information about hyperlinks. Demographic Profile (2 points) A demographic profile often includes population of the city and then information about age, gender, race, socioeconomic status, etc. Use at least two data sets to craft your answer. See Module 5 for a list of data sets: I recommend the US Census Bureau as a good data set. Present your demographic profile in chart form. Include a map in this section of your letter. What I Love About You (2 points) Provide a list of things you appreciate about this city. It can include qualities, appearance, people, events specific to the city, buildings, geographical landmarks, culture, etc. Include 2-3 pictures in this section.
