A sustainability management system (SMS) is a framework with which an organisation can
identify their sustainability aspects, define their policy commitments, set targets, conduct audits,
implement programs, measure progress, analyse and improve performance, and engage with

SMS, 2) demonstrate how to use a management system to operationalise sustainability actions
in a series of key operational areas, and 3) exemplify how it has been implemented by the
hospitality, tourism and/or events industries.
