In this course you will gain experience researching a scientific topic as presented in both the media and peer-reviewed literature.

Objectives:
You will become familiar with a contemporary scientific issue/topic as presented in the media and be able to effectively summarize the author’s review and line of evidence
Locate one (1) article from the primary literature (peer reviewed journal) that discusses this scientific topic and presents their line of evidence
Discuss the similarities and differences between the primary source and the media article
Evaluate the effectiveness of the media article in accurately communicating the scientific findings of the topic to the public and discuss the possible benefits and consequences that may result from presenting science in the media
