Karen Chow, PhD

Objective:

To explain 3 positions around your chosen EWRT 1AH topic and analyze the Ethos, Pathos, and Logos of each point.
Integrate support in the form of Quote Sandwiches from our readings.
Conclude with explaining the impacts of each position on the public good and/or marginalized groups or communities
In your essay, you should:

Write a well-developed introduction that tells the reader about the topic and what positions around it should be considered significant. In other words, CONVINCE your reader how/why the position is important in this topic!
Each of the body paragraphs should: 1) Explain the position clearly, and 2) Analyze the Ethos, Pathos, and Logos of arguments in favor of or against the position. For EACH body paragraph,  use at least 1 well-integrated QUOTE SANDWICHES with citations; QUOTE and CITE support evidence (quotes and paraphrase) from our readings.  In the entire essay, there should be AT LEAST 4 Quote Sandwiches.  The quotes should come from article(s)/readings that you researched, or was given to you as part of class readings.
Write a thoughtful conclusion where you answer these questions about EACH position:
Does the position support actions that can cause harm, oppress, or alienate the public good or marginalized groups or communities? If so, How?
Does the position support actions that can unify and/or empower the public good or any marginalized groups or communities?  If so, How?
At the end of your essay, have a Works Cited page that lists all the articles/readings you used and quoted for this essay..  You can use easybib.com to create the Works Cited entry for each article/s.
